Unicorn Birthday Party Ideas

When I get asked to do a party theme that's already been done a bazillion times, I have to admit...I'm not super thrilled about it.

If you know me, I'm all about the challenges of fresh, new, "less-traveled" themes.

However, when your little niece...who just so happens to be the cutest little 9-year-old on the planet...asks for a Unicorn Party, a Unicorn Party she gets.  She's lucky she's cute!

So, here you have it.  My attempt at creating Unicorn Birthday Party Ideas that you'll hopefully find unique + inspiring.  Enjoy!  :)

According to the little boss lady, incorporating rainbows was a must.  I opted for a softer color palette, focusing more on pinks, blues, and greens, with some gold accents for a touch of whimsy.

The Unicorn Invitations (available here) turned out super cute, and set the tone for the style/decor of the party.

Some of my very favorite "scores" for the party were goodies from My Paper Crush and Handcrafted Parties.

I mean, y'all!  Just look at that ombré tableware with the gold trim.  And those candy wands?  Perfection!!!

Pink and Gold Straw Flags looked so amazing on the gold foil straws from My Paper Crush, and the Unicorn Water Bottle Labels were a cute way to encourage the kiddos to drink water.

A Unicorn Birthday Party wouldn't be complete without pink cotton candy clouds, and thanks to The Cotton Candy Confectionery, we got them!

Not only did they add the perfect touch to our cake table, the consensus was that this was the best cotton candy many of us had ever had.  Seriously delish!!!

The DIY backdrop for the cake table was pretty detailed, so I wanted to keep the cake simple.

A little toy unicorn served as the cake topper, and was accented with our printable rainbow cake banner.  If I do say so myself, it was pretty stinking cute.  :)

The focal point of our party area was our DIY Rainbow Wall, complete with clouds, sparkling gold glitter stars, and DIY Unicorn Headbands for each of the girls.  (Get the Unicorn Headband tutorial here).

Our Custom Unicorn Party Sign added a special, personalized touch to the display.

When I was brainstorming Unicorn Birthday Party Ideas, twinkle lights seemed like a given.

We pulled out the Christmas boxes and found our icicle lights, which were perfect for the favor table backdrop!

Our Unicorn Favor Table Sign, and a few paper star cut-outs here and there, and voila!  Our favor table really did look magical.  :)

Party favors consisted of cotton candy clouds, DIY rainbow bracelet kits with bottled unicorn magic charms, rainbow notebooks & pens, rainbow marshmallows, rainbow saltwater taffy, and rainbow hair ties.

The kiddos also got to keep the candy wands and unicorns from their place settings at the food table, as well as the rainbow yarn artwork that they created as an activity.

Rainbow yarn art, rainbow limbo, and a rainbow relay kept the kiddos occupied during the party.

The Rainbow Wall also served at the perfect photo backdrop, so we took lots of pics there.  Too bad the girls weren't into it at all.  ;)

All in all, the party was a success, but most importantly, that very special little 9-year-old was a happy girl.

AND, that cute little shirt she's wearing?  It was made just for her by BASE Camp Collections...and she loved it!!!
