Succulent Bridal Shower featuring Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels
Hey guys! If you caught my last blog post, then you know that an epic collaboration is going down between Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels, and you know that I am one of the lucky gals who gets to work with them and create fun party inspiration for YOU as a result!
I have been having so much fun creating and styling with these goodies, and I'm super excited to share my latest project with you, a Succulent Bridal Shower!
For this project I got to play with the "Gold" collection in the Martha Stewart Celebrations line. This is one of ten collections in the line, all available exclusively at Michaels. All of the collections include practically everything you need to throw a party...gorgeous tableware (from pretty plates, napkins, and table runners to cute cups and straws), party decor (like banners and party poms), and so much more!
What I like about the gold collection is that it is so versatile! Use "as is" for a simplistic, classy feel, or add some pops of color to jazz it up a bit. You know I'm all about that jazz, so I decided to complement the pretty gold and white with some bold color!
We are in full blown wedding season at our house because TWO of our kiddos are getting married! We're so excited!!! So, with weddings on the brain, when I saw the classy gold collection I instantly thought "bridal shower." With summer approaching, I really wanted to use some summer colors to add some seasonal pop to the party.
I went to Michaels and browsed through the collection of Martha Stewart card stock to find the perfect colors to include in my Succulent Bridal Shower.
The 12-inch pages were perfect to use at each place setting as placemats, and they really added a nice visual contrast against the gorgeous Martha Stewart table runner, plates and napkins. SO easy and inexpensive compared to using chargers, too!
Pretty florals from Michaels helped tie all of the colors together. I'll be real here. I was totally gonna splurge on real flowers for this party, but when I was at Michaels looking at the paper I decided to mosey over to the floral department. Faux flowers have come a long way, y'all. I had several people look at the pics and couldn't even tell that these flowers weren't real! I'm a fresh flower kinda gal, but I just might be swayed a little bit. :)
As part of the epic collab between these three brands, Cricut has released a brand new Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle, available exclusively at Michaels. The machine has a stunning pearlized finish and gold accents, and is seriously so beautiful! A five piece gold-accented tool kit is included in the bundle.
Not only is this machine pretty, she's smart! She can cut over 100 materials seamlessly...simply set the Smart Set dial to the material that you'd like to cut, and the machine will know exactly how much pressure to put on the blade to give you the perfect cut! Wanna know what else? It cuts and writes up to twice as fast as previous versions of the machine!
For this shower I cut card stock, vinyl, and iron-on with just a turn of the dial. What's even cooler is I used the scoring stylus to score the folds for the favor boxes, and I used the pens to draw a favor sign. It's all so easy to do and takes crafting to an entirely new level! I'm so obsessed!
There are thousands of ready-to-make projects waiting for you in Cricut's free Design Space software, and as a bonus, this Martha Machine bundle includes 25 exclusive Martha Stewart projects. This ADORABLE favor box is one of them (find it in Design Space here, and see my modified version here). Simply change the papers and the embellishment cuts/accents to create an entirely new look for your celebrations! So fun! Instead of using a cut embellishment for the top, I used the Martha gold labels and wrote the girls' names on them so the boxes could serve as place cards.
This 3-D cactus is a ready-to-make project that I fell in love with and knew I wanted to incorporate. I just love how it turned out...isn't it so neat?!! Get the cut files in Design Space here.
Another exclusive Martha cut that I used was the medallion cut (in Design Space here). The design worked well with the succulent theme, so I used Cricut foil iron-on and my EasyPress to adhere the medallion designs to the Martha Stewart cloth banner, then hung it on the front of the favor table.
I used a really cool cactus wall hanging as the backdrop, and I really love the character it added to the setup. When setting up a table, I'm all about visual interest, so staggering heights is a must. I turned gold buckets from the Martha collection upside down and used them as risers for the succulent favors and the straws (also from the Martha collection). Cricut has some super cool corrugated paper that I cut and wrapped around the succulents for a finished look.
Bottles of Sanpellegrino Prickly Pear Sparkling Fruit Juice got jazzed up with a new name, because "On Point" Punch sounded a little more fun to me and I love a good pun (get the label project here).
Speaking of puns, remember that I said I used the Cricut pens to make the favor sign? Well, the sign says "She's a SUCCA for his love." Get it? Because of the succulents? Yeah, corny, I know, but that's totally how I roll! Anyhoo, the machine wrote and cut that sign, you guys. How freaking cool is that?!!! I just taped some colored card stock behind the cuts. Here's how to make it.
