A Celestial Graduation Party featuring Cricut, Martha Stewart, and Michaels
/Once upon a time, three fabulous, very well-known brands joined forces for a dynamic collaboration. A girl (who isn't very well-known and works at home in her pajamas) was asked to be a part of it. The girl, realizing what an unprecedented opportunity this was, fainted, came to, then excitedly got to work on the most fun partnership ever...kicking off the celebration with this Celestial Graduation Party!
You guys, I have been holding this secret in for months, and I'm SO EXCITED to finally spill the beans!
CRICUT, MARTHA STEWART, AND MICHAELS have all joined forces and have released an exclusive line of phenomenal products that are truly incredible...and I get to help them share it with you!
For this project, I was asked to design with several of the items from the Cotton Candy Collection. It's full of pinks, purples, and iridescents, making it perfect for the Unicorn Parties that are so popular right now!
Since it's graduation season and this collection has stars incorporated into it, I thought it might be fun to stray from the expected and use this collection for a Celestial Graduation Party.
The star favor bags were tucked inside a decorative box, and I hung the tassel garland from the Deluxe Decor Kit on the back of the box to give it a nice, finished look.
It's always fun to display pictures at graduation parties, so the Iridescent Wood Clothespins came in handy! I strung the Iridescent Banner onto the pink twine, then used the clothespins to attach pics of the graduate.
The Iridescent Place Cards served as food tent labels, but I also thought it would be fun to use them as wishing cards. The guests could leave a wish for the graduate on the cards, and they could serve as a sweet momento for the grad to appreciate later on.
The Iridescent Tiered Tray was a fun way to display the treats, and it's awesome because there is plenty of space between the tiers to display something other than cupcakes. I used little treat cups filled with "clouds," which seemed appropriate since we were reaching for the stars. :)
I love using fresh flowers in my party decor, and this Celestial Graduation Party was no exception! The Iridescent Bucket worked perfectly to hold the bouquet, and tied in with the rest of the decor seamlessly. Just a note here, though...the bucket seams are not fully sealed, so the bucket will leak if you put water in it. I placed a jelly jar filled with water inside the bucket, then arranged the flowers inside the jelly jar. :)
Now don't get me wrong...I love the ease of ready-to-go party supplies. But what I love even more is being able to use my imagination to reinvent them or use them in unexpected ways.
That's where the Martha Machine Bundle comes in!
Not only does this baby cut with incredible accuracy and ease (and does it twice as fast as previous Explore models), she can write and score, too...and I used all of those features in my projects for this party!
This exclusive bundle includes a 5-piece, color-coordinated basic tool set, plus 25 exclusive Martha Stewart projects! It doesn't hurt that she's pretty, too. I mean just look at that sleek design, that gorgeous ivory pearl color, and those stunning gold accents!
I made flags for them based off of this Martha Stewart Scalloped Cupcake Topper project in Design Space. I used white card stock as the top layer, and used the writing feature on the machine to write the year on the flags. You can find the modified project here.
Here's what's suuuuper cool...there are two tool holders in the machine, so you can put the Cricut pen in one holder and the blade in the other, and the machine will do all of the writing and cutting in one step! It's mesmerizing to watch, too, take a peek for yourself!
Then I used holographic vinyl to create a scalloped circle, adhered purple glitter vinyl "grad" lettering to a white card stock circle, and then layered it all onto the bag for a custom look. The modified project can be found here.
The machine has a Smart Set Dial with predefined settings, so when you are cutting all of the different materials for this project, you simply set the dial to the material that you are using and the machine knows exactly how much pressure to apply for the cut. It's like magic!
I also made a card stock graduation cake topper with the machine, and added some graduation hats to the treat cups using holographic vinyl and purple glitter vinyl.
Last but not least, I created the "Reach for the Stars" backrop. I designed the quote in Design Space, then cut it out using Teal Adhesive Foil. What's great is you can resize the quote to whatever dimensions work for your space right in Design Space. So easy!
Just be sure to use a strong grip mat when using the adhesive vinyl so that it stays firmly in place as it's being cut.
The Cricut Explore Air 2™ Special Edition Martha Stewart Machine Bundle hits Michaels stores today and is available online now! Be sure to go check it out, and you can pick up some exclusive Martha Stewart Celebrations party supplies while you're there. :) I'd love to hear which celebration is your favorite!
In the meantime, stay tuned for more inspiration from this amazing brand collaboration coming soon!
