A Watermelon First Birthday Party with Cricut

One of the things I miss most about my kiddos being little is their birthday parties. There was something so magical about watching their little faces as they soaked in every detail of a celebration that was designed especially for them!
Since those days are looooong gone, when Cricut contacted me to design a Watermelon First Birthday Party for them, I was all over it! I have a Watercolor Watermelon Invitation in the shop that I've always wanted to create a party around, so this provided the perfect opportunity to check that off the list!
My mind was spinning with ideas about what projects to create with my brand new Cricut Explore Air 2, but I knew two things: I definitely wanted to make a wall decal (I've always wanted to make one!), and I wanted to make a "one" cake topper like the ones that are so on trend right now.
Cutting them out was seriously SO easy! Honestly, we're talking minutes...and I'm a newbie! I used "midnight" vinyl for the wall decal and heavy duty card stock for the topper, and they both cut like a dream. Now I just want to cut allllll the things! I'm seriously obsessed!
An adorable watermelon piñata made by my super sweet friend Lisa (@lisafrank_handcraftedparties on Instagram) looked too darn cute for words in the wall display, and the cake topper could not have looked any more perfect sitting atop the amazing watermelon cake by my friend Alyson of Confection Deception.

So, if you know me, you know a little bit of real cake has to be involved, too! I fancied up some store-bought cupcakes with my Watercolor Watermelon Party Toppers available here.
The Cricut Explore Air 2 has a "Print and Cut" feature which is a dream come true...especially in my line of work when I'm cutting printables allllll day long!
I simply loaded the topper images into Cricut Design Space, printed them, and loaded them into the Cricut for cutting. Y'all!!! Can I just tell you? Life. Changing!!!
The Cricut Explore Air 2 also came in handy for making the bottle wraps for the party, and I'm crazy over how they turned out!
I simply layered some ribbon, then used my Cricut to cut a few coordinating shapes and numbers. Stay tuned for a DIY on how to make these coming soon!
I used the "Print and Cut" feature for my Watermelon Favor Tags, too, and created the cutest little watermelon favor bag toppers using this "Make it Now" project idea in Cricut Design Space.
The "Make it Now" projects are awesome! They're a library full of projects that are all ready for making...you just load the materials and follow the instructions. So easy!!!
A personalized Watermelon Party Sign (available here), more Lisa Frank watermelon pinatas, and some pretty flowers all helped round out the Watermelon Party decor.
