DIY Halloween Sugar Scrub Gift Idea with Cricut
/Wanna surprise your pals, coworkers, or your kids’ teachers with a fun little Halloween treat? This DIY Halloween Sugar Scrub Gift Idea is sure to do the trick!
We all love a little pampering every now and then, so sugar scrub makes a wicked cool Halloween treat. Tint it to look like candy corn, and it’s just boo-tiful!
To kick it up a notch and make it even more spooktacular, personalize the jars with a sassy saying. I used my Cricut® Explore Air™ 2 Special Edition, Martha Stewart Machine Bundle to jazz up the jars with some fun personalization. If you’ve been following my blog and have seen my “Mint to Be” Baby Shower or my “She’s a Succa for Him” Succulent Bridal Shower, then you know how obsessed I am with my Martha machine.
It can cut over 100 different materials at twice the speed of previous models, and the bundle (which is available exclusively at Michaels) includes twenty-five exclusive Martha Stewart images. This is in addition to the thousands of ready-made projects and images that are available in Cricut’s Design Space! There is so much fun to be had with this bundle!!!
To make these cute little gifts, I started with some jars that I found in Target’s Dollar Spot. They were only $3 for a set of three jars…such a bargain! Then I followed this easy recipe to create the sugar scrub.
I chose the new Cricut + Martha Stewart Premium Vinyl to personalize the jars with because it’s removable. This way, if your pals want to reuse the jars after their sugar scrub is gone, they can remove the vinyl and it won’t leave behind any residue. The cool thing is, it’s removable for up to two years!
To begin the personalization, go to this project in Design Space and click “Make It.” Then just follow the prompts to cut out the vinyl.
I used two colors of Removable Matte Martha Vinyl: Gold and Lily Pad. Feel free to mix and match or use different colors if you want…that’s what makes it fun! Whatever colors you choose, you are gonna love how flat this vinyl lays on the cutting mat. It doesn’t curl at all, and it is so easy to work with!
Once your designs have been cut, use the Cricut Weeding Tool that is included in the Martha Bundle to weed away all of the negative pieces from the design. Bonus: This vinyl is super easy to weed, too!
Next, apply a piece of Cricut Transfer Tape over the weeded designs, then transfer the design to the jars and lids. Be sure to use the included burnishing tool to smooth over the design before removing the tape. This will help eliminate any air bubbles and will help with adhesion.
The text goes on the jar itself…
…and the spider web goes on the lid.
Layer the sugar scrub colors to resemble candy corn, and you’re all done! Remember to set a jar aside so you can treat yo’self to a little pampering, too!
